Report «Social support for former prisoners in Russia»

After being released from places of penal institutions, former convicts often need housing, money, and a job. Responsibilities of supporting of former prisoners fall on regional authorities and public organizations. The report considers two main organizational forms of social support for former prisoners: social adaptation centers and job centers. The data presented in the report were provided by various government agencies from 14 regions of Russia. The final section presents the difficulties that regional experts face in the implementation of social support for former convicts, as well as recommendations for improving the existing adaptation programms.
